What we’ve learned after 17 years at school

Toshiba laptops have been going to school since 1990, when a forward-thinking girls’ college in Melbourne, Australia, supplied them to two year 5 classes. That was one of the first times laptops were formally used in a school anywhere in the world. Since then, we’ve been heavily involved in schools in many countries (one of the reasons the Ministry of Education sought our advice in developing the TELA program). This experience has taught us a lot about what schools, teachers and administrators need in a laptop – and one requirement overrides all others: reliability. To find out more about how we achieve this, click here.
Toshiba laptops have been tested by over 20,000 teachers in New Zealand alone
Since the start of TELA, over 1,600 NZ schools have chosen Toshiba laptops, and over 20,000 teachers now use them. Why not contact some colleagues and see what they have to say?
The world’s first laptop computer
In 1985, Toshiba developed the world’s first commercially available laptop computer. Since then, we’ve pioneered a wide range of different laptop technologies, from processors and storage devices to screens and power supplies. Many of these have since become industry standards.
The world’s most popular mobile computer
We have now sold over 50 million worldwide. In fact, more people use Toshiba laptops than any other brand.
